The Public Health Association and Food Banks BC were honoured to have hosted our Northern Food Summit on the Traditional Territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nations. We want to acknowledge the 9000+ years of the Lheidli T’enneh Nation’s stewardship of these unceded ancestral lands, which are hosting us as we share and celebrate together while collectively working towards food security and food sovereignty in northern BC https://www.lheidli.ca.
A project poster presentation was featured as part of the Summit, providing an opportunity to showcase 48 initiatives from the Rapid Stimulus, Ideas Lab, and Large-Scale grant streams. The posters were displayed for the full duration of the summit, allowing participants to browse and engage with the material at their own pace. Each poster highlighted the project’s background, key highlights, impacts, and next steps.
During dedicated poster presentation time, project leads were available to discuss their work, answer questions, and exchange ideas with attendees. This format encouraged informal, meaningful conversations and created space for a deeper understanding of the diverse initiatives represented. Overall, the poster presentations contributed to a rich and interactive learning environment throughout the Summit.
At the end of the Summit, participants were invited to take their posters back to their organizations, enabling them to continue sharing their project work and insights with colleagues and community members beyond the event.
“[These projects] represent the kind of partnerships that will make a real difference in people’s lives.”
– Sheila Malcolmson, Former Minister of Poverty Reduction and Social Development, Government of B.C.
