As one of PHABC’s largest public grantmaking initiatives, this process has been an incredible learning journey. I was deeply inspired by the power of community — witnessing how much can be achieved with so little, through creativity, tenacity, and sheer determination.

Along the way, I had the privilege of meeting passionate community champions who consistently go above and beyond, often doing the unseen work that ensures people are fed.

The challenges facing northern BC are complex and layered, yet the solutions proposed through our granting streams have shown what’s possible when communities are empowered with the agency and resources to lead. I’m incredibly proud of our team and our partnership with Food Banks BC.

Together, we are advancing a new era of innovation and sophistication in food systems transformation — one that is rooted in equity, resilience, and lasting change.
